Member Welcome and Thank You

Dear NYIGT member,

Thank you for becoming a member of the New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy.

We’re pleased to welcome you into the life of the Institute — a community where the roots of Gestalt therapy run deep and the edges of novelty and discovery continue to grow. Founded by Fritz and Laura Perls in 1951, the NYIGT remains the oldest gestalt therapy institute in the world. Indeed, we and gestalt therapy itself were born in the same place and at the same time.

This is a particularly meaningful year for us. The NYIGT turns 75. We’ll be marking this occasion with a special anniversary conference, June 5–6 in New York City (and online). The theme is “Our Past in the Present, Our Future in the Moment.” Mark your calendars. We look forward to meeting you there.

As a member of the institute, you are part of a living tradition — and you receive a number of benefits to support your engagement and growth:

  • Exclusive access to video recordings of our recent presentations and member-only books: https://newyorkgestalt.org/members-library/
    Password: Our75Anniversary!
  • Entry to our developing online library of writings and videos by our members — a growing archive of theory/practice in action.
  • Invitations to member-only groups and workshops. A writing support group is already gathering regularly.
  • The chance to join our private listserv, where members stay connected and share reflections on Gestalt therapy and the work we do.

We’re always adding new ways for members to connect and contribute. Let us know what draws your interest — we’ll be happy to support you however we can.

Again, welcome to the Institute. And if you ever have any questions — or just want to say hello — I’m always glad to hear from you at president@nyigt.org.

Warmly,

Dan Bloom, president
