Bio

Fiona Turnbull is a gestalt psychotherapist and supervisor based in London, UK, working in private practice. She is accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
Fiona works with a diverse range of clients and has particular affinity in working with themes of loss, grief and life transition; shame; anxiety; and trauma, neglect and abuse. Fiona worked previously for many years as senior counsellor in a large London hospice where, as well as seeing clients, she ran workshops for medical students and supervised bereavement volunteers. She currently facilitates staff reflection groups within the funeral sector. She is passionate about bringing a feminist perspective to all aspects of her work as a therapist with clients of all genders.
Prior to becoming a therapist, Fiona ran a ground-breaking peer support project for people bereaved as a result of drug and alcohol use. Her first career for many years was working as a communications specialist focused on social exclusion in the public and voluntary sectors.
Fiona loves to write both reflectively, academically and creatively. She is an avid reader, particularly of contemporary and modernist women’s fiction, and enjoys hiking, yoga and classical music.
Fiona campaigns to end violence against women and girls and is a trustee of Rights of Women, a free legal advice charity for women facing violence in England and Wales.
