Jean-Marie Robine (born 1945) is a French psychologist and psychotherapist and an internationally renowned trainer. He has a special interest in developing the contributions of Paul Goodman and Isadore From to Gestalt therapy theory and practice. He is the founder (1980) and past director of the Institut Français de Gestalt-thérapie (1980-2007), co-founder and past president of the European Association for Gestalt Therapy EAGT and a cofounder of the Société Française de Gestalt, then of College Européen de Gestalt-thérapie.

As well as creating, publishing and editing two French journals, he served on the editorial boards of several international Gestalt journals. He is the author of numerous articles and 8 books – published in several languages – including ‘On the Occasion of an Other’ published in 2011 by The Gestalt Journal Press, ‘Social Change begins with Two’ (a new and expanded edition will appear soon at Routledge as ‘Situation, Field Perspective and Formation of Forms in Gestalt Therapy’), ‘Self a polyphony of contemporary gestalt therapists’.

He was editor and publisher of a collection of about 60 books (original and translations): www.exprimerie.fr.

Today, he is still teaching short and long term programs for gestalt-therapists (post graduate programs, training of supervisors and of trainers) mostly in Europe, Eastern Europe and Latin America

He lives in the countryside near Bordeaux (France)
