Raymond Saner

Raymond Saner, Ph.D., lives in Geneva, Switzerland. He studied sociology, economics and Psychology and ended his formal education as Social Psychologist. He was trained in Clinical Psychology, Expressive Therapies and Psychodrama/Sociodrama. Raymond worked in private practice in NYC with individuals and families and got trained in Gestalt therapy with Laura Perls, Isador From, and Erv & Myriam Polster and was a member of the NYGTI in the early 1980s.

During his years in NY, he got introduced to Gestalt oriented organization development taught by Ed Nevis and was member of the NY OD network. He started to work for United Nations Agencies in developing countries and moved to Geneva, Switzerland to work as delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross specializing in team building and conflict resolution. While working in the humanitarian field, he also became Titular Professor and taught at Basel University and Sciences Po in Paris.

Together with his wife and partner Lichia, E.D., he co-founded a NGO 30 years ago called Centre for Socio-Eco-Nomic Development (CSEND) which is based in Geneva and operates worldwide (www.csend.org). Besides being Gestalt oriented therapists and consultants, both apply psychodrama and sociodrama methods when working with larger groups.

Raymond is interested in history and the arts. He has written radio plays and radio features and writes on art and cultural issues. He is also committed to an alternative economy based on solidarity and social economy and enjoys being supervisor of graduate students who come to Geneva to learn about international relations.

Raymond is the representative of the International Association of Applied Psychology to the Geneva based United Nations Agencies and is member of civil society Organisations who try to make international Organisations more inclusive, more human and more open to social justice.

Raymond offers support to persons in need of therapy, groups in need of counseling and organizations in search of sustainable development & change. He works in German, French and English and can be reached at saner@csend.org
